Gary Flegal’s Magic at Heritage Hall Theatre, Mountain City’s Performing Arts Center & Washington DC

This past month has been an incredible time, filled with magical highlights and great experiences.

My team of road warriors (Vernonda Irlinger – on-stage Beautiful Assistant, and Jeff Bjorklund – Show Director) and I traveled to Mountain City in East Tennessee to present a full evening show at Heritage Hall Theatre, Mountain City’s Performing Arts Center. We were welcomed to town in grand style by some of the friendliest folks ever who made us feel like celebrities. The residents of Mountain City packed the theatre and enjoyed the magic and mentalism, rewarding us with a standing ovation.

GaryBringsMagicEarly October found me on my first trip ever to Washington, DC. I have seen pictures all of my life, but I was finally able to see Arlington Cemetery, The Lincoln Memorial, The Washington Monument (albeit surrounded by scaffolding and under reconstruction), The White House, and The Capitol. One of my repeat corporate clients provided the reason for my travel as I was the featured performer for a Trade Show event held at The Capitale, a club right in the middle of downtown DC.

Doing magic in the political heart of our country made me remember one of my favorite jokes. I sometimes remark that, “Magicians are honest liars – they tell you ahead of time that they are going to fool you, and then they do it! If we could only get our politicians to do the same . . . “

Coming home to Nashville brought out “The Best Of Nashville” in The Nashville Scene, an annual issue of The Scene. The issue features readers’ top three choices for the best of everything in every category you can imagine. I am proud to be one of three Nashville Magicians featured in The Best Of Nashville.

October is a big party month with lots of Birthdays and Halloween Parties. I finished up the month as the closing presentation for Vanderbilt’s Diabetes Family Day, sponsored by The Children’s Diabetes Program and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. This is a wonderful program to support parents and families who have children with diabetes.

Please connect with me so that I can bring my brand of excitement and entertainment to your next event. To quote one of my recently acquired friends from Mountain City, TN:

“Just wanted to thank you for a super show at Heritage Hall in Mountain City last Saturday. You all did an amazing job — You make it appear – the magic word there – effortless. Really good job!
“You pretty much had us at hello … to make that point – I worked the tickets for this show and had planned to listen for a few minutes and go on home, as my husband and I had had a very very long day … however, I couldn’t leave – I just had to see what you were going to do next … mesmerizing.

“When I did get home, my husband who had been expecting me about 7:30 said – “Well, he must have been really entertaining!” And you were…

“Thanks so much”
